February 2004
Dear friend of KHCS,
In my last letter I
pointed out your need for the ministry of Joy 92-FM.
I would like
to continue this thought by explaining some of the programming changes we
have introduced for the new year.
You are no
doubt aware of the threats now being made to our civil liberties as
Christians. You may hear about some of these on the secular media. You
certainly hear about them on KHCS.
Perhaps you
have read Persecution by David Limbaugh, a book that details the
many attempts being made to squelch the rights of Christians to pray in
public, sing Christmas carols, or even hold Bible studies in their own
homes. Or perhaps you have heard about these through other sources.
To fully keep
you up to date on these developments, we invite you to tune to 91.7 FM
each Saturday for Jay Sekulow Weekend. You probably know
that Jay is the head of the American Center for Law and Justice, a
public-interest law firm that has been representing Christians in many
civil-rights cases, all the way to the Supreme Court. Here is your
opportunity to keep up to date with these crucial issues, every Saturday
from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
Our
responsibilities as Christians also extend to helping “the least of
these.” You can learn of humanitarian needs of people around the world on
the new program, World Vision Report, on Saturdays from 2 to
2:30 p.m. It’s a fast-paced half-hour with news reports from all over the
globe.
Well, staying
informed is important, but it’s nice to have fun too. And with this in
mind, we are now airing your favorite Christian hits from the 1970’s and
‘80’s every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon on Streets of Gold.
I hope you enjoy this show and let us know how you like it. If there is
sufficient interest, we could expand the show from one hour to two hours
each Saturday, and perhaps air it at another time. Please write or call
and let us know what you think.
Remember,
KHCS is a servant ministry, here to serve you.
We don’t
exist to push the theology of just one church or denomination. Our goal
is to lift up Jesus as Savior, as the Apostle Paul wrote in this month’s
verse: “Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
Your
tax-deductible contributions enable us to keep on bringing you Information
and Inspiration, 24 hours a day.
Our recent
survey showed that 62 percent of our respondents listen only to KHCS.
Perhaps you are one of them.
What would
you listen to if we were not able to keep on bringing you this unique
radio programming to the Coachella Valley?
We hope that
2004 will be the year that Joy 92-FM moves ahead with
projects that make our ministry to you even more valuable. But we can’t
do it without your support. Please make the decision today that you will
faithfully support this ministry throughout the year.
I am waiting
to hear from you.
In His
joy!

Glen Kippel
General Manager
PS: While January is normally light on listener
contributions, as I write this our donor income is down almost 30 percent.
Contributions need to be up, not down, for KHCS to move ahead with the studio
enhancement, Morongo Basin translator and other projects that will help us reach
out to more potential listeners in the desert area. Your contributions are
urgently needed.
