Dear friend of KHCS,

We here at KHCS hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Many of the programs and features we put on the air during the Christmas Season did an outstanding job of proclaiming Christ’s birth and the importance of His coming to this sin filled world to redeem us so we can live with Him forever! This is what the ministry of KHCS, Joy 92 FM, is here for.

It was January 1993 that we put KHCS on the air here in the Coachella Valley. From that time until now we have received countless letters and comments from people letting us know what a blessing the station has been to them. We hope it has been a blessing to you. Keep in mind this is YOUR Christian radio station.

As we are starting a new year I thought it would good to let you know what has happened over the past year here at KHCS. We have added several new short features we feel are informative and spiritually uplifting for today’s culture. Also on Sunday evenings we air Samantha Landy’s program Psalms of Hope as well as the program For Ordinary Christians with Fred Stoutland. Both of these programs are produce here at KHCS for our listeners here in the Coachella Valley.

We are also airing a radio version of The Desert Christian News TV program. This can be heard at 5:30 PM on Wednesdays. This is a very a informative program about churches, Christian organizations and other non-profit organizations here in the valley.

Fred Stoutland has been giving of his time and going out and doing interviews with people and organizations here in the valley that can have an impact on our lives and it is information we need to be aware of. These short interviews are heard on Thursdays at 7:30 AM and again at 5:30 PM.

As you all know, we do public service announcements for all of the churches and other non-profit organizations for special events they are doing for the community. KHCS does this at no charge. If your church or organization has not taken advantage of this, give us a call. We think you will find it effective.

Earlier this past year we received a visit from an inspector from the Federal Communications Commission to see if KHCS is complying with all of the regulations required of us. For the most part we were in compliance. She did suggest we have a FCC Compliance Specialist do a complete inspection of the station. She stated that if we do this the cost would be far less than any fines that could be imposed and that we would never see her again! This has been done and the company that did it was very helpful in making sure the smallest detains were in place and we are now in full compliance with FCC regulations.

We were notified in December by BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) that the license fees we pay to play music on KHCS will be increased significantly. That was followed by ASCAP and SESAC. These fees are due by the end of January and are well over $3,000.00.

We have hired, on a part time basis, Steve Cook who is helping in many areas of the station. Some of our equipment breaks down at times and Steve is willing and capable to help get problems resolved.

This past year has been financially difficult for us. We are more than $20,000.00 down in donations that last year at this time. We do not charge for the programs we air. Almost all of these programs ask to be supported financially, but they do not have to pay us to air their programs. We air them because we believe their message is honoring to the Lord and a blessing to you. The only way we can pay our bills and maintain KHCS as YOUR local Christian radio station is by your generous monthly support.
