Dear Friends of
KHCS,
Since the
beginning of 1993, KHCS – Joy 92 FM has been there when you turned your
radio on with Christian programming. Over the years we have received
many letters and telephone calls telling us what a blessing the station
has been to them. This has been our purpose and we thank the Lord for
the opportunity to be able and serve in this way.
It is very costly
to start up and build a radio station. Everything from the antenna to
the transmitter, the studio and all of its equipment and the cost of
just keeping it on the air. Then there is the cost of keeping up with
new technology and new equipment because the programs on our station use
these new systems and without our keeping up to date, we would not be
able to bring them to you.
KHCS brings you
many programs that we hope have been a blessing to all in the Coachella
Valley. We also give you information about events happening around the
valley such as special speakers at churches, Vacation Bible Schools and
much more. These are geared to be informative to the Christian
community.
As mentioned in
previous letters, we do not charge for programs to air on KHCS.
But I must tell you that every program we air lets you know just how
much they need your donations. I certainly do not have a problem with
that, however, let’s not forget the messenger, for without KHCS their
voice would not be heard in the Coachella Valley. We bring these
programs to you because we believe they need to be heard and are
spiritually uplifting to the Christian community here in the valley.
The time has come
to let our listeners know that things are not going well financially
with KHCS. There are less than 100 folks in the Coachella Valley that
give on a regular monthly basis to the ministry of KHCS and that has not
taken care of just the basic monthly operational cost. Because of this
we have accumulated debt that must be paid.
As we have told
you in the past, there are many things we want to do to improve KHCS in
the Coachella Valley, but funds have been the thing that has kept us
from doing them. We still want to as soon as funds are available.
The radio station
KKJZ, which is a non-commercial station in Long Beach, plays just jazz.
No news, no programs, no special interest programs – just jazz. Jazz
lovers support that station with donations of 3 million dollars a year.
If the Christian community in the Coachella Valley could give a small
portion of that amount to KHCS, we could meet our needs, pay our debt
and greatly improve our programming and outreach.
To those of you
that give on a regular monthly basis, I want to thank you for keeping
KHCS - Joy 92 FM on the air proclaiming the Good New of our Lord Jesus
Christ! To those of you that have not given in a while, I would ask you
to pray about becoming a regular monthly ministry partner with us. Of
course, there are those who just don’t have the means to give. I would
ask those to pray for us and be blessed by the programming that we
offer.
Sincerely,

Dan Pike
President
P. S. – The summer
months are traditionally slow for contributions. Your continual, monthly
commitment to be a partner in KHCS and our ministry of sowing the Word
of God 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is essential. Please give
generously as we serve our Lord together. Also, I hope your enjoying
our local news which is being done by Janet Barnbrook who is donating
her time to the work of the Lord.
