Now that Fall is here and the hot Summer months are behind us, I would like to update you on a few things happening here at KHCS – Joy 92FM.

Along with continually adding new music to our library, we have added many new short features which we hope you will find helpful and spiritually encouraging. A guide for all of the programs and features, listed alphabetically, has been included with this letter. This format has been done to make it easier for you to find the times of the programs you may be most interested in.

You may not be aware of this, but Joy 92-FM is the only Christian radio station that has studios in the Coachella Valley. One-hundred-percent of what you hear on other Christian stations emanates from northern California or from another state.

You will notice on the Program Guide there are local programs listed. They are the Desert Christian News, Music of Encouragement, For Ordinary Christians and Psalms of Hope. We produce these programs for the desert community. Before the end of the year we will have some more.

The Desert Christian News is the radio version of their television program that is seen here in the desert. This program brings important information to the Christian community about events taking place, Christian ministries that are active in the desert and a host of other informative things and interviews important to all of us. This program is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 5:30 PM.

Music of Encouragement will be an early morning program of beautiful chorale and instrumental music with scripture. This program will be heard from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM and is designed for those who will wake

up early and would like to be inspired with God honoring music and scripture to start the day.

For Ordinary Christians is a different kind of program and is certainly no ordinary program. It is hosted by Fred Stoutland and is designed to reach your mind, touch your heart, make you laugh (or groan) and stimulate your spiritual thinking. You will also be able to contact the station with questions you would like answered or topics you would like to know more about. Fred will respond to these over the air. This program will be heard on Sunday evenings at 7:30 PM starting October 8th.

Psalms of Hope with Samantha Landy is heard on Sunday evenings at 7:05 PM. Samantha applies the Psalms, other scriptures and music to inspire you in modern day living. KHCS also sends this program to Israel and other stations.

There are several other short daily features we have added lately that are informative and inspiring. The Garlow Perspective, History unwrapped, Insight, Real Answers and The Point are short programs you will find helpful for the Christian life.

We will also be adding in October a program that will feature Detective Reggie Stewart of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. He will bring to us information about all law enforcement issues in the Coachella Valley and how we can keep informed about safety and security issues for our well being.

Here at KHCS we strive to have the best Christian programming and music available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We would also encourage your comments about our programming. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. Remember, KHCS is the Coachella Valley’s station – that means it’s your Christian radio station.

Along with telling other people about the station, please be a part of it and become a regular monthly financial partner. We do not derive income from any other source. Our income has been down considerably over the past few months. This makes paying bills difficult. As always, we asked for your prayers, but please make a commitment to help support us.
